Sample paper with tips

  • Use standard 8.5 by 11 inch white paper.
  • Use 1 inch margins for top bottom and sides.
  • Use a 12 point font (e.g. Times New Roman)
  • Double-space the body of the paper.
  • Make a header that creates automatic pagination (page numbering) with your last name.
  • Don't make a title page unless your instructor requires it.
  • In the upper left-hand corner of the first page, list your name, your instructor's name, the course, and the date. Use double-spaced text.
  • Make a title, but double-space between it and the first line of your paper.

There are several ways to create a bibliography (source list). NHS has a subscription to NoodleTools.Login in using your AACPS student ID and password.

Write or type it out in the correct format. (See samples.)

  • Use a website that like NoodleTools.; Citation Machine, or KnightCite that will create source citations one by one for you to copy or print.
  • Use the Easybib app available in the Google Play Store or Itunes.
  • Use the reference tools in Microsoft Word 2007/2010. Click here for a how-to file.
